However, when not driving people mad VV also acts as an auditor who is willing to spend dozens of hours to get the job done right as community service. Moreover, VV has raised about 200billion in donations from other MD posters to give to the Red Cross during PLEX for Good drives. Using eve to generate thousands of dollars for worthy real life causes makes her a 'good one' in my book.
Thank you!
I have tried bringing in something different to EvE, in order to break the "EvE chocking full of sociopaths" stereotype.
It's perfectly possible to keep the "cold, harsh universe" setting while bringing in some novel setups that seemingly go against the flow. It makes the sandbox concept more free form and surprising.
I am expecially affectionate to the RL charity fund, it's a break through way to transform useless fiat currency into tangible aid to populations in dire need of help.
Here's my own "good guy" story and what made me believe in EvE having good people:
When I had just started the game, I had my alt jet can mining in a bantam and another hauling the stuff out. A can flipper decided to play his game on his AF.
Since I did not appreciate thieves I promptly warped to station and reshipped to my Big Nasty Rifter (which I had to use a MAPC just to fit it with T1 modules, I was *that* new). I don't know if this made me "the newbie with the right attitude" or not but it's how I deal with who stomps on my turf.
The fight was like: I kept hitting him and he would not really die, nor he would kill me. He manages to out-run me and breaks scram and flies away.
Few seconds later he's back in a Vagabond plus neutral RR and kills me very fast. Seeing his coward behavior I started to "lightly" smack him on local chat. He acted all mighty and smart.
A random guy called Roful Koptur convoed me and asked me if I needed help. I told him what happened and he immediately invited me to his corp (of about 30 men). He gave me another hauler and did to repeat.
So I returned to my alt who kept mining and once again I got that guy stealing off my can, this time directly in his Vagabond. But this time Roful and several other guys appeared off a near safespot and tackled him and killed him.
Since that date, Roful invited my alts, gave them countless T2 fitted ships (BCs, Hulks everything) both for hi sec and 0.0. He was a good friend in game and we had so much good times (at the same time I had epic times on this character in Dark Rising as well, in the face of the cold harsh universe). Sadly one day he had to quit for 2 months. He made me a director of a corp with 42-43 billions worth of assets including BPOs, multiple POSes and so on. He returned 2 months later and could only play 1 more month before he had to quit for 6 months (this was a very hard blow for me) and made me CEO. He returned 6 months later, I gave him all back and life returned awesome again. Sadly after 2-3 months he had to quit - forever.
He made me appreciate e-friendship to a different level, I wish I could help him in his troublesome RL now.
As a testament to him and the Market Discussion community (a bunch of weirdos but many are cool people) I decided to try give back. So I became auditor, how tos writer and the rest quoted above.
EvE is a cold harsh universe... with many warm and nice people inside.
